Mosaic Basics: Dishes and Tile
2 weeks | Instructor Lauren Becker Downey
In this fun hands-on 2-part workshop, explore the basics of direct method mosaic while creating a work of art with broken ceramic or porcelain dishes and/or ceramic tiles adhered to an object. Learn about materials, adhesives, safe cutting and breaking, designing and grouting.
What you learn in this class will equip you with skills to enable you to create mosaic projects on your own.
Please bring a hammer, tiles or dishes to break, and the object of your choice to mosaic; a box, tray, table top, vase, wide picture frame, flower pot, etc. (made of terra cotta, glass, metal, ceramics, cement or wood). In the first meeting, students will break, design and apply their broken pieces. Grout at the second meeting. Materials list provided upon registration.
In the weeks between the first and second meeting, you will work on and complete your project at home.
